Glasses

Here is Bailey in his new glasses! His eyes are worse than I thought they would be. Per Travis - analying mine and Bailey's glasses: Bailey's right eye is really bad. The lense is like a magnifying glass. His left is is a little worse than my left eye (which isn't too bad). The glasses seem to be working for him. He seems to enjoy reading again. Travis and I are having to get used to keeping up with his glasses.

This was a special request by Bailey.

Working

Bailey's new thing to say when you ask him "What are you doing?" is "Working." In most cases he is doing something he's not supposed to be doing, like trying to get on the computer.

Here's some pictures of him working with Daddy. Bailey had a really bad case of plumber crack before I pulled his Pull Up up and got the camera.

Another one is landing.... Sweet!
That's enough of the bounce house. I'm going to fly the yellow helicopter!

Crazy Eyes - for Real this Time

In the past, Bailey has occassionally looked out the corner of his eyes at things. It didn't happen much and we mostly thought he was being silly, since he DOES like to do crazy things with his eyes. For the past couple of weeks, he has been doing it a lot more. He often looks down and to the left when eating, reading or playing. Sometimes he looks down and to the right. We found out today that Bailey needs glasses. The doctor said we could wait until he is older to get glasses, since he is young and the problem isn't severe.
Bailey did great while the doctor was looking at his eyes and even did well when getting the dilating drops in his eyes. The doctor was impressed at how well behaved he was and said she wanted two of him. Since he is a pretty well behaved two year old and he doesn't seem to want to read as much lately because of his eyes, we'll go pick out some glasses tomorrow. Bailey also will get to be a pirate soon. He gets to wear a patch over an eye for 30 minutes each day, alternating eyes. ARRRRRRGG!!!
Here's what he has been doing.

Ride and Lunch

We headed to the Trinity Trail today and biked 15 miles. It was first sunny day (not to mention no rain) day we've seen in around two weeks.

After the ride, we headed to Ocean Rock for some good eatin' on the patio. Here's Travis and Bailey enjoying onion rings.

Broom Guitars

Bailey ratted out Daddy while he was in Amarillo. Grandma Gloe asked Bailey if he was a good dancer. Bailey replied "No. Daddy is."

Here's a video of Bailey and Daddy playing broom guitars. Before Daddy got the brooms out Bailey was playing the air guitar at the kitchen table.

Dad's Retirement Party

I didn't think this time would ever come, but my dad (aka Papa) is actually retiring from John Deere after 33 years. The dealers that he works with all pitched in to throw him a surprise party with the help of his coworker Chad and his wife Julie. Lindsey put together a great slideshow of the past 33 years.

Bailey and Lindsey (aka Tin Tin).
I'm not sure why he was compelled to start kissing Lindsey at the party, but he was starting to cause a scene.... and he made Tin Tin cry. Everyone was laughing at this crazy boy.
..

After the party we headed back to Grandma and Grandpa's house. Aunt Lindsey told Bailey that these were race goggles...

... when in fact they are VERY old ski goggles with that are decomposing.

We had a great time in Amarillo. Congratulations to my Dad for 33 years of service. I hope you have a relaxing retirement! We all love you!

Amariilo

Bailey has been in Amarillo all week with his Grandparents. This is the longest we've ever been away from him. It has been lonely at the house. Stinky has been meowing a lot more because he misses Bailey, so the house really isn't more quiet with Bailey gone.... just different, like something is missing.

I headed to Amarillo on Friday in the rain and had car troubles all the way there. The dang car died in the parking lot at work (where I was leaving out from) and would have speed surges (jerking on me), so it wasn't a great trip. I should have looked at a map since I was starting out from a different place than normal, but I just started driving. The trip was probably 30 - 45 minutes longer that it should have been because of that.

I finally got to see Bailey Friday night! I know he had a great time with all of his Grandparents, but I missed him dearly.

I spent part of Saturday and Sunday dealing with my car. Later the next week, Travis replaced my mass air flow sensor, so at least now the car doesn't die on me now. The other issue is a mystery. I'm now keeping an eye out for a new(used) car that I can buy the Dave Ramsey way (cash) if possible. I guess I need to save up my pennies.

Yard Project Update

Here's the big hole Travis dug to get all of the nasty caliche out before planting the Shantung maple. Bailey enjoyed getting in the hole.
We have green grass! We also have three more trees in the yard. Beside the maple (shadow on the lower part of the picture) we got a Bur Oak (see the trunk in the upper right hand of this picture) and an American Elm for the backyard. I'll have to get more tree pictures later. Notice the white stone wall as compared to the dirty wall in the picture above. A power washer works miracles.

First Slumber Party Away from Home

If you don't count the couple of times Bailey has spent the night next door at Austin's house, tonight is Bailey's first slumber party with Aunt Mindy, Uncle Chuck, Lillie, Payton and Grandma Dawn (whom Bailey calls DawnDi - a combination of Dawn and Dodi). This is Bailey as he was about to leave our houee to see his cousins. I'll have to try to get some more pictures of the actual slumber party.
