On Friday we headed to Mineral Wells State Park for Bailey's first camping trip. We ended up staying at the primative camping sites which were over a two mile hike from the trailhead. It would have been a tough trip without a toddler, but it was even more challenging with one in a jogging stroller. We often had to lift the stroller over rocks or narrow parts of the trail. He was a little noisy at times (sometimes fussy, sometimes full of laughter, especially when it was time to settle down and go to sleep) so it was probably better for other campers that we were a bit isolated.

Day One - Friday, May 2, 2008
Daddy is checking out the trail and campsites. Notice Bailey's cup. Daddy's (MacGyver's) idea so the cup doesn't hit the ground and get dirty when Bailey throws it.
Checking out another campsite.
Found a campsite with a fallen tree nearby. Bailey loved it!
Playing in the dirt and ashes near the fallen tree.

Bailey on the fallen tree. He would bounce back and forth as if he were riding a horse.
Bailey, Daddy and the tent.
Bailey and Mommy at the lake. He DID NOT want to leave the beach. We'll have go back back to swim or go canoing when it is warmer and not as windy.Bailey playing in the leaves at the picnic area.
Bailey and Mommy on the Lake Front Trail.
Bailey and Daddy on a big inclined rock.
Who's that monkey in the tree? The rock walls at Penitentiary Hollow are popular among climbers. We may have to get some gear in a few years and take up a new hobby.
No, please don't take up rock climbing. It's too frightening and risky. Love the pictures! Auntie Ar
