Project/Yard Update

My ground cover in March.

Sidewalks and flowerbeds before stone.

These are the big rocks we are using for the flowerbed border.

Time out - hired some neighborhood "big boys", as Bailey calls them, to help pick up rocks in our neighbor's yard.

Back to flowerbeds. This one is complete.

Currently my one flower bed. A work in progress.

I still need a landscape plan for the new flower beds. I won't buy a single plant until it is complete!

The grass is really green in May.

This is Travis' happy place and a frequent evening hang out. No putting holes please!

Digging a trench to drain this water out of the neighbor's yard. We're about 95% sure this is a city water leak. When undisturbed, this water is crystal clear plus the road is really torn up near where we think the leak originates. The City is aware of the issue, yet does nothing...

The pile of rocks is getting bigger and bigger. These will be used to build the neighbor's wall after all of the rocks are dug out and a french drain is installed.

We have a constant stream on the other side of our yard. I think this one is ground water. It's characteristics are completely different from the neighbor's water issue.

Yucky orange slime with an oily surface. Gross!

Notice his hand.

Still digging the trench...

Almost there!

Spotting scope/telescope. Everything aluminum is custom designed and made by Travis.

After anodizing.

Heidi Moore's going away party - Naomi's Village

Our friend Heidi is about to go over to Kenya for an indefinite amount of time. She will be at Naomi's Village, learning swahili, being a "Mom" to orphans and trying to implement some ideas to help turn the economy around.

http://naomisvillage.com/

Stats from the website:
UNICEF estimates there are presently 25 million orphaned children in Sub-Saharan Africa. In Kenya alone there are currently 2 million orphans out of the 12 million children (16% of all children under age 15). 700 children a day become orphaned in Kenya – 1 every 2 minutes!

This is an awesome video about Naomi's Village. Joshua's story is heartbreaking, but he now has a better life at Naomi's Village.

Heidi is very passionate about helping out children and serving the Lord. She is a true inspiration to everyone she meets.

Jets and Strawberry Surprise

We had our own personal air show today!

This used to be my strawberry plant.

It is now a nest for some house finches.

Bluebonnets

It's nearly impossible to get Bailey to sit still and smile nicely when I'm trying to get pictures of him.

Bailey took this picture of me... with the port-a-potty of course.

Funk Soul Brother???

Fat Boy Slim's song "Funk Soul Brother" was on the radio today long enough for Travis to decide he needed to find a different song (maybe 20 seconds). When they got home Bailey was singing this song at the top of his lungs, making up his own words, of course. I had Bailey recreate it for me to video, so I'm sure its not as good as the original.

Yes, I'm WAY behind on blog posts. Updates coming soon?

New Kite

Here is B and Travis flying the new kite.

We borrowed the neighbor's yard (less power lines). Bailey likes it, but he gets bored pretty fast.
