Like Mother, Like Child

Backhoe

Travis saw Bailey sitting on his tractor like this yesterday and just thought he was being silly. Today Bailey told me he was using his backhoe.

Here's Bailey telling me what he is doing.

We got about 30-40 loads of dirt dumped in the bottom area of our yard yesterday. I'm sure a few neighbors aren't too happy, but most of them don't have standing water in their yards for 10 months out of the year. It's either due to a city water leak of a natural spring (which is an urban legend in the neighborhood that still hasn't been proven to be true or false). We'll probably hydromulch it after it is graded.

Happy Birthday Papa!

Here's several clips of Bailey saying Happy Birthday to Grandpa Gloe. Today was the first day that Bailey said "I love you."

Dad, I hope you had a great birthday! We all love you!!!

Dancing to Candlebox

Travis must have been dreaming about the old days today and got out a Candlebox CD. Now we have another generation that likes that music too. Bailey is quite the dancer. He must have learned from his Dad!

Familiar Tune/Tractor vs. Da Du

Bailey's Alphabet Pal has a different tune for each letter of the alphabet. He stopped when he heard the familiar tune of "I've Been Working on the Railroad." He never ceases to amaze me.

Bailey's language skills are growing every day (and he can even read some words), but there are two words he refuses to say correctly: moi = more, da du = tractor and rabbit, frog and grasshopper = hoppy.

Happy Eater

I'm not sure what was so funny this morning while Bailey was eating breakfast, but he sure wanted to laugh.

Car Placement

I watched as Bailey carefully placed each vehicle on the race track, making sure that they all faced the same direction.

Cats Game

We attempted to go to a Cats game Friday night. Bailey wasn't into the game very much. He had a good time with one o my coworkers son and he loved the girl cat mascot dancing around (we were pretty sure there was a man inside). Bailey kept pointing at the cat and saying "Stinky."
Here's picture of Bailey making a crazy face.

Discovery Center, Goodbye and Mr. Gatti's

We headed to the Discovery Center on Monday morning while we were in Amarillo. Bailey had a great time learning and experimenting.

THis is our crazy family picture since we look like goofs and are all looking different directions.
Dinner at Mr. Gatti's. The train was Bailey's favorite. He rode it 3 times.

My flash ruined this picture. Here's Jason, Lori, Bailey & Emily.

Crazy Tractor Driver Won't Say Yes

The sandbox top is Bailey's newest tractor obstacle. He's crazy! This video also shows how Bailey tell us yes. He nods his head and blinks his eyes. When we tell him to use words, he just moves his mouth. Besides NOT saying yes, Bailey's vocabulary is increasing everyone. He says the colors, please, juice, up, down, on, off, Bubba and repeats other words that we say.

Independence Day

Our Independence Day weekend wasn't very eventful. If it's not yard project, then something else pops up. This time it was a new transmission. Travis spent all weekend putting a purple transmission in his truck (I'm sure Natalee wants one now too!).
Austin and Bailey played outside Saturday morning and decided to rest in the bike chariot. I gave them ice water and now I think they really like ice in their water.
I planted over 100 more vinca on the same side I planted previously. They were originally supposed to go on the south side of the stairs, but because of weeds on the south side, pulling sprouting weeds on the north side amidst the vinca and hand watering everyday, I'd like to get the first side a bit established before making more work for myself.
Later Bailey and I headed to a TEA Party. He did really good at first, but then he just wanted to run around like a crazy guy. There was a decent showing at the TEA Party. I was with the the Educators of Liberty who were handing out magazines, Fiat Empire DVDs and invitations to a movie showing the next week. People were coming up to me asking for a packet of stuff. A good sign!

Bailey is leaning forward here, about to slam himself back into the seat to move the chariot back a few inches.

Yum! Ice Water!

This is how Travis got the transmission up high enough to get the transmission jack underneath it. The truck was too low (amazingly, since it is huge) for Travis to put the transmission on the jack and roll it underneath.

They don't call him MacGyver for nothing!

Kite Flying on Father's Day

Bailey and Travis flew the Spiderman kite today and got it up as far as the string would let them. Bailey really enjoyed it for a while then he said "Done."
Happy Father's day to my Dad, Travis's Dad and all of the fathers that we know.

Wet Boys

We watched Austin tonight and didn't anticipate both of the boys getting soaked from head to toe. Bailey got sand in his eyes so we sprayed his face down. Then Austin came from the sandbox and they both stomped in the puddles. The next thing we knew they were all wet and begging to be sprayed.

Here is a sequence of faces in anticipation of getting sprayed.

Here it is!

Here's a video of them asking to get wet. It sounds like Bailey says "on me" or "I want it on me."

Before I pushed the record button, Bailey yelled out "Oh no!" as he realized his diaper had fallen down. I struggled not to burst out laughing while filming this.

Baby Robin

Travis and Bailey found this baby robin that fell out of its nest. Hopefully the mommy robin was able to care for it or teach it how to fly back to the nest (and hopefully Stinky didn't get it).

Bye to Lindsey, Swimming with Tony

Thanks for the monster truck Aunt Lindsey. We'll see you soon!

In the pool with our neighbor Mr. Tony (aka Uncle Tony). They invited us over to swim, then we all came up with food for an improptu barbeque dinner. We have great neighbors!

Boxers and Aunt Lindsey

We all went to the store today and I just had to get Bailey some boxers so he can look like his Daddy. He loved them!

Bailey doing a boxer dance.

Being silly with Aunt Lindsey.

Attack of the ducks (and geese)!

The last time we fed the ducks they weren't that interested in us or the bread. I guess they had been fed all day and weren't hungry. Today was a different story. Even before we got out of the car, an army of ducks and geese were heading our way.

Bailey and Aunt Lindsey.

Critter Day

This was a day of critters. First Travis brought a baby toad up to the house to show Bailey, then he found a baby snakejrough earth snake (non-venomous). Later Bailey went outside and chased a butterfly all over the yard, then he did the same with a killdeer.

Why does Bailey touch a snake when he doesn't touch toads, geckos, worms and bugs? It looks like it's time to teach him good snakes from bad snakes.

Travis requested a critter label since we seem to have so many critter pics and videos. I'll go back and add the label to old posts when I get a chance. (Travis loves critter pics!)

Creepy?

OK. Finally here are the picture some may think are creepy. Bailey loves making faces in our water filter system. I like the pictures that emphasize his big eyes.
